The son of the landscape painter, James Hardy, Sr., two of James Jr.'s brothers were also artists. Hardy worked in both watercolour and oils and was perhaps best known for his paintings of rustic landscapes and hunting scenes. His portrayals of sporting dogs were often accompanied by dead game. Hardy became a member of the New Watercolour Society in 1877, and exhibited some nine works at the Royal Academy. |
