Original works of art

In addition to Marguerite Kirmse, Bert Cobb was one of the most interesting 20th century graphic artists to specialize in dogs. Working exclusively in dry-point, Cobb created etchings of many of the most important show dogs of the day, including those owned by Geraldine R. Dodge and Percy Rockefeller and Mrs. R. D. Huntington, among others. He was a highly skilled artist, but he also knew dogs.

While he started as a cartoonist, Cobb soon came to specialize in dry-point etchings, showing his work for the first time at the Academy of Art in Philadelphia. He later moved to New York where he did illustrations for such publications as "Life" magazine. He also illustrated several books with his etchings.
